Dominican Republic - Samana North East Coast

The north east coast is less developed and much quieter than other parts of the country. As a result, coming here you get the chance to experience the Caribbean the way it used to be. The landscape is wild and green, picture perfect. Go inland and you will find rolling mountains, forests and waterfalls combining to make with the world’s largest coconut plantation. This landscape makes it great for walker, hikers and horse riding enthusiasts.

Along the coast  rocky outcrops border some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Lined with beautiful coconut palms and silky soft white sands, lapped by the crystal clear neon blue waters that hide coral reefs and rocks perfect for snorkellers and scuba divers. Some stretches even come without a soul in sight.

There’s much more to this natural paradise than sun, sea and scenery. Lining the coast are resorts where you can truly put your feet up. Las Galeras is a laid back village located at the end of a road, on the tip of the peninsula leading to nowhere but a beach. Daily life here is all about relaxing on the sands with a book or a refreshing drink.

Cayo Levantado is another beautiful resort surrounded by coconut palms and white coves, this coral reef islet basks in the clear waters of Samana Bay and is home to just one hotel.

Samana Town itself its made up of coloured houses, and al fresco cafés. Boat trips from here can be taken to see the humpback whales that play in the bay.
